Buying a Used Car

When looking at a used car to purchase, you want to see its history. Has it been in a wreck? Does it have cancer (rust)? What might a new paint job be hiding? You can actually take a little magnet and run over the body to see if the paint is hiding body filler.

When we become believers, our damaged parts are not just repaired and painted over, but we become new. That is a miracle that God does with us. The history is there for us to learn from; however, we need to live in the new life. So, I want to encourage you to let go of the past and walk in Him.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)

18 "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Philippians 3:12-14 (NIV)

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
